The year-end holidays are not my favorite. It's like mandatory fun, as if the social pressure imposed by its rules. It is very necessary to buy and buy. Gifts, food and drink. At Christmas there are the inevitable family gatherings, which are very good when the family is united and well. Fortunately for now, I have nothing directly to regret. But I know of many cases of friends and acquaintances that are now show how bad they are. Because they can not fulfill a social obligation to be happy, for various reasons. There is also hypocrisy to get together with people you might not queremos see family members that do not get along, and with whom we have to pretend that "everything is fine" just because it needs to be done.
Of course, on the other hand, sometimes forcing us to these meetings are a good side and are some cases where it can achieve genuine reconciliation.
But none of this is possible if we try to find some meaning. Yesterday, in a meeting with friends, one of them made me see clearly what may be part of the problem. Thanks Jan, for your original perspective, but obviously not never heard it raised as well. Coca-cola
stole Christmas in the Church. How true! Clear that the Church stole the feasts to the Romans, who in turn stole from the ancient Celts.Only it did have meaning for them. However, in a time of religious faith, at least tened sense Christmas. I'm not saying that no one today to remember Jesus, I know there are. A God who became man, and born as any of us, to share a human life from the beginning.
Until finally the mega corporation Coca-Cola invented Santa Claus, and tried to worship the God of money, in the temples / shopping, and eating and taking everything you can. It is even ridiculous extremes, as happens in the southern hemisphere, where, to quote a remarkable storyteller (Luis Landriscina) "everything that our ancestors ate with 10 degrees bajo zero, we eat with 42 degrees in the shade. "Imagine, eating pastries and candies, calories pumps, with a warmth that can not endure, just because it is traditional.
But all this is meaningless. buy and eat will not fill, does not make us happier. And I do not say I be spiritual, but by direct experience.
I wonder what will happen in the future, we will continue to god, that ritual we will celebrate this holiday and if it makes sense for us.
Therefore, as another friend said, without being a religious person, rather than follow a big red dress that makes us eat, and knowing the rituals that preceded it, I have a memory for such a cute story, that of God who became man. It's goodor at least to many people yet (although less and less), that is the true meaning of Christmas. I would get that feeling. Almost I'd like to believe. But if not, and I believe the religious, Jesus was a great man, as we say today, a really cool person, who did not discriminate against anyone, he had no prejudices, and above all, celebrating life.
